We’re having a baby!

2012 was an amazing year, and 2013 is shaping up to be the same!

Our 2nd bebe is due any day now, so I will be out on Maternity leave from Feb 1 – April 1st, responding to emails beginning of March!

I will not be taking any more weddings this year, but I will start booking weddings for 2014 in April!

Hope everyone had a great spring! See you in a couple of months!

xoxo,

Lora

Town and Country Feature

This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to do hair for Schulyer Fisk’s wedding. If you’re not familiar with her – you should check out her solo music and her joint collab called FM Radio. Totally awesome music. … her mom also happens to be Sissy Spacek. They are a totally delightful family, and it was a pleasure to be able to work with them for her wedding. Here is their beautiful feature in Town and Country Weddings Magazine.

Getting ready.

A dewy fresh look.

make-up-artist-charlottesville-va

“What is your style?” – Probably the most frequent question I get as a make-up artist. I’ve spend over a decade in the business, cultivating and curating a look that is fresh, romantic and natural. My entire goal as a make-up artist is to combine the artistry needed to make you look good for your wedding with the knowledge of photography – so that you look good in your images, as well. After all, when it’s all said and done, the moments captured are what hang on your walls or go into your album or pop up on your facebook page.

We all want to look our best and like ourselves.

This look was created to incorporate the rosiness and color palette of fall, with the dewiness and romance of a wedding.

Maddie

Live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. – Henry David Thoreau

One of my favorite things about Maddie, besides her strength of character, is that she likes to sing. I probably like this because, I too, like to sing – and to watch someone light up with music is one of the most enjoyable things.

I love her personal style, chic, sophisticated but with some sass.

There is so much uncertainty in the year before and the years after you graduate. The intensity of decisions, the realization of personal responsibility, the powerful march of time and age can be over-whelming at times. But the beauty of this time in one’s life is the incredible openness of your future – to go and do and create.

So this is Maddie – on the edge of her future, and I am so excited to see what she will do and experience.

A Sweet Southern Luncheon by Easton Events and Eric Kelley

In May, I had the incredible honor of working with Easton Events and my amazing husband for an editorial for Southern Weddings Magazine. I got to do make-up for the bride and some wardrobe styling, as well.

For her look, I wanted to create something that looked natural, but also a little watercolor-smudged. So, I used a little coral on the cheeks, and smoked out the lash line with plum, african violet and popped a little muted light peach on the center of the lid. I love to finish off the eyes with black violet kohl pencil and some rocking awesome false lashes. These were by MAC.

For the lips, I did baby doll with natural lips liner.. to give it that soft gloss look. Total fav! Hope you enjoy!

Featured in The Knot Magazine -Texas!

So honored to be featured in the 2013 The Knot Magazine with Eric Kelley. I love the rustic chic palette with pops of yellow, and we wanted to create something natural and organic with a little bit of a thick liner across the top.

I popped a little baby-doll lip gloss on the lips for extra summery shine.. total fav! Hope you enjoy!

Lora

Make-up for Mom

Not sure if everyone knows this, but I am a mom of a toddler. He’s a peach, but this morning he actually woke up at 5:30 am… with Thomas the Train on the mind!

Now, I am a make-up artist. I love aesthetics, and I appreciate a tidy appearance and clean hair. It’s not always possible for me to go Vogue with my make-up, but these days, I’ve found a few go to products with only THREE tools necessary to create the look. And it takes me about 5-10 minutes… depending on whether Henry is ankle-biting me or not!
