I want to work with…

We just got back from Chicago late Wednesday night. I can’t believe what an amazing experience it was to work with Eric in an Urban setting and with all of the creative people involved, especially Megan of Mae Mae Paperie and Mallory Joyce of A Strong Aesthetic.

The film went out to Richard Photo Lab while we were still in Chicago.. and we should get it back in a few weeks to be published on Grey Likes Weddings.

I have to say, one of the most thrilling things is putting together inspiration for brides or artists to enjoy  and photograph. So.. I am writing  an on-going list of people I want to work with creatively, who inspire me to grow, imagine and produce beauty.

Hope to share soon…

Green, White and Midnight Palette

We’re heading to Chicago this week for an editorial shoot for a fun little brewhouse outside of Chicago! Totally excited!

Mallory Joyce, a great friend and excellent fashionista, and I came up with this sweet inspiration board for the shoot. It’s always interesting to see how things materialize when you finally put all of the pieces together. And I am realizing more and more how much I love Creative Direction and working with super fun people to bring new inspiration to myself and others.

Can’t wait to share the final product!

Buttercream Bombshell Color Palette

oooo, I love me a subtle Marilyn look. This blonde looks perfect because it has touches of lemon and wheat weaved into it, and I love the complementary chocolate brown brows, cat eye and sweetly pink lips. It’s delightfully sweet because of the softness of tones in the dress and the ambient light. So lovely!

Featured in Weddings Unveiled Magazine

So excited to announce that we were featured in Weddings Unveiled Magazine! This was particularly fun for me because I did make-up, and I did some styling in conjunction with Eric Kelley and Easton Events and Beehive Events. This was really one of the first editorial shoots we’ve done, and originally it was featured on Grey Likes Weddings, but Weddings Unveiled liked it so much they decided to put it in print. As an artist and lover of all things weddings, it was such a huge compliment to have our shoot be chosen as an inspirational piece for brides! So grateful and happy!! : ) Hope you enjoy!

Inspiration.

There is nothing like being around beautiful, creative people for a three whole days… to get you super inspired.

I saw this photo when I was gathering little nuggets, and I liked it.

Pink Make-up Inspiration

I am totally aching for spring right now! All of the daffodils are about to explode, and I have a million perfectly pink tulips and peonies waiting right behind them. Right now, I am loving fuchsia on the cheeks, pinky matte or gloss lips and gray and pink on the eyes.. so fresh and springy.

Smokey Eye How To!

charlottesville make-up artist

Step 1: Using your flat liner brush, create a shoe polish paste with water and your eye liner. Then, carefully, apply the liner to the lashbed of the eye to create a seamless line.

Step 2: Cover your whole lid with Wheat Eye Basics followed by Gold Metallic Cream Shadow.

Step 3: Use Pony tail brush with Noir Eye shadow and do a “windshield wiper” motion inside your crease, blending as you go.

Step 4: Add Sable to the mix and bring it on to the lid.

Step 5. Draw a line with the Black Voilet Kohl Pencil, and use smudge brush to work it into the lash line, moving around to the bottom of the eye.

Of course, finish with a lash curler and jet black mascara! (OR false lashes.. THE best!)

Matte is back.

Can I just say? I am loving matte lipstick these days.

Not to say that gone are the days of slick, glossy lips, but to be sure… matte is making a come-back and a statement.

Why am I loving it? Because of its subtlety. Like Kate Middleton, it looks classier than the pouty pucker of over-glossed lips. It says, “yes, I am lovely… but you better behave like a gentleman.” And for that, I am so grateful.

Fresh Face Make-up Inspiration

What can I say? I am totally in love with the clean look these days – especially with le bebe traipsing around the house in his adorable elmo diapers. It’s a little tricky to find the time to glamorize ourselves, and these 8 products are the sure way to feel the best you can feel, even if you have a day-old pony tail and lucy jazzercise pants on.

Agreed that they’re not drugstore prices, but my motto is that my face is the first thing I, my babes, my husband and everyone else sees throughout the day… so I might as well invest in keeping it happy, healthy and looking good.

Enjoy!

Lora
